Many types of design exist and some include Scandinavian, industrial, and country. Each type of interior design has a certain style and feel. Minimalist design is very interesting because it is styled around the concept of minimalism – ” minimalism is about committing to owning less, rather than decluttering more often” (http://simplelionheartlife.com/minimalist-mindset-shift/). Minimalism revolves around the concept of creating a stunning silhouette using few key articles of furniture and focusing on basic colors and shapes.

Few bright colors are used in minimalism, natural colors such as white, black, brown, and navy are the main colors seen. However, many designers choose to implement metallics such as silver and gold as ascent colors to give the room an edgy feel. Also, minimalist designers use natural lighting and choose to include a lot of windows allowing more sunlight to enter the house instead of having unnecessary lamps.

Many minimalist rooms contain furniture with basic shapes and outlines so it does not overpower the other furniture and lighting in the room. Minimalism is all about balance between flooring, wall color, furniture, lighting, and art to create a harmonious tone.

In conclusion minimalism, although not my style, is very hard to perfect. Even though minimalist design doesn’t include many articles of furniture, balancing flooring, wall color, textures, furniture, and lighting is very difficult.
